The reconstruction of a new object-a well with a gate-has been completed in the Museum of folk wooden architecture "Vitoslavlitsy"! It is located in the North-Eastern sector of the Museum between the Utenkova hut and the Dobrovolsky house. Wells of this type are typical for the North and North-West of Russia, but in Vitoslavlitsy was represented only by a well-crane on a village street in the Central sector. The well with a collar is designed for lifting water from a great depth.
The new Museum object has a unique history. In 2014, in Veliky Novgorod at the Rogatitske-2 excavation, the staff of the Institute of archaeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences found a well frame of the XVII century for twenty crowns. In the same year, the log was brought to Vitoslavlitsy and dug in the North-Eastern sector. The reconstruction of the top of the well was performed by the carpenter-restorer of the Museum Alexander Lebedenko.
It is also planned to install a chain and a wooden bucket. And as soon as all restrictions on access to the Museum are removed, visitors will see a new object.
